Donald Marritz, Esq. Staff Attorney

Areas of Expertise: Donald Marritz joined the staff of RHLS in 2007. He manages the Pennsylvania Housing Law Project and the HEMAP Help Center.
Publications: Donald is the author of “Making Equality Matter (Again): The Prohibition Against Special Laws in the Pennsylvania Constitution,” 3 Widener J. Pub. L. 161 (1993), as well as a chapter about the Article I, sec. 11, guarantee of open courts and remedies in the book “The Pennsylvania Constitution: A Treatise on Rights and Remedies” (Gormley, et al., editors, 2004).
Awards: Donald received the Pennsylvania Bar Association Special Achievement in 1998 and in 2002, and in 2006 was granted the Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network Excellence Award.
Experience and Education: Prior to joining RHLS, Don was a staff attorney at MidPenn Legal Services in the Gettysburg office for many years. He is an adjunct at Penn State-Dickinson School of Law where he teaches a course on poverty law and Gettysburg College where he teaches philosophy of law. Don is a graduate of Swarthmore College and the University of Colorado Law School.
Appointment: Donald was recently appointed to the Steering Committee of the National Coalition for Civil Right to Counsel (Civil Gideon).
