We are appalled by the assault on democracy that occurred on Wednesday, January 6th, and the gross inequity in the response of law enforcement. It is beyond doubt that the mob violence and racist rhetoric and imagery we witnessed on full display is rooted in and perpetuated by systemic racism and white supremacy. As people and as professionals that engage in advocacy to bring affordable, healthy, and stable housing and utilities to all who need it, we see clearly the ways in which systemic racism perpetuates deep and far-reaching inequities from the top of our system to the very bottom. We are committed to using our resources and expertise to bend the moral arc of the United States of America further toward justice.
