As of August 1, 2021 Dina Schlossberg, formerly Deputy Director/Senior Attorney for Multi-Family Housing will become the Executive Director of Regional Housing Legal Services (RHLS).
During her time at RHLS, Dina has represented dozens of clients and has assisted with the creation or preservation of thousands of affordable rental homes throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Dina’s commitment to helping all Pennsylvanians access affordable, healthy housing and her passion for equitable solutions to community development has already played a significant role in shaping RHLS and our work. Dina has acted a key leader as RHLS navigates the many challenges that COVID-19 has posed for our clients developing affordable housing. She has also provided invaluable support and guidance for RHLS during a time of great change for the organization.
Under Dina’s leadership, RHLS is poised to build on nearly five decades of success in systemic change that supports affordable housing and equitable community development. Her expertise in Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) matters, creative community development solutions, and the housing and legal aid sectors in Pennsylvania will enable RHLS to build on strategies known to be successful, while also supporting innovation.
With the deep knowledge and creativity of the RHLS team, Dina will lead the organization to meet the evolving and growing need for affordable housing. Dina intends to further integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion into our work, recognizing the role that discrimination has played as one of the historic drivers of housing disparities.
RHLS attorneys, operating at the intersection of legal aid and affordable housing, create unique opportunities to foster collaboration and innovation. Dina’s commitment to supporting the excellent transactional legal representation and policy work that have defined the success of RHLS will allow for responsiveness to the needs of our time.
Dina has devoted her entire professional career to providing housing and economic opportunity in underserved communities and to addressing issues of housing affordability and systemic poverty. Much of that career has been spent at RHLS, serving our clients, expanding our client services and our client base, working with our funders and supporters, and supervising and supporting our legal and administrative staff. Dina is also a leader in the legal community; she is a writer, an editor, and a speaker on topics related to affordable housing and community development; she has served as an adjunct/visiting professor at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, the University of Pennsylvania School of City and Regional Planning, the Drexel Kline School of Law at Drexel University and the Temple University Beasley School of Law; she is a past Chair of the American Bar Association’s Forum on Affordable Housing and Community Development Law and is the current Chair of the Forum’s publications; and, she has served and continues to serve as a director on the boards of many local organizations, including Community Legal Services/Philadelphia Legal Assistance and the Philadelphia Association of Community Development Corporations.
As Dina’s tenure begins, RHLS will engage with our clients, funders, and partners to share the important work that will shape our organization’s future. We are excited about this transition and look forward to this new era for RHLS.
