My name is Hosu Chang and I am honored to be part of the PULP team as a 2023 Martin Luther King, Jr. intern this summer.
I am a rising third-year law student at the University of Iowa College of Law. I am originally from South Korea, but I grew up in Arizona. I consider myself a ‘Korean Sun Devil’ – as I graduated from Arizona State University with a B.A. in History and B.A. in Religious Studies, with Certification in Asian Studies.
Growing up as a first-generation immigrant, I am all too familiar with economic struggles that many low-income families face daily. However, amidst the difficulties, I was fortunate to have the support and assistance from my local community. Individuals, neighbors, religious organizations, and nonprofit organizations like PULP were my family’s lifelines. Not only did they help my family with food insecurities, utility matters, language barriers, and job training classes, but they also helped us make lasting connections to the community. This experience has shaped my commitment to serving vulnerable and underserved populations, and I am blessed to have the opportunity to work at PULP this summer to help advocate for universal services for low-income consumers. I am excited to get experience in energy matters and work with the passionate attorneys and staff at PULP.
In my free time, you can find me frolicking around the hills of Iowa either on foot or on bike.
