This week, Regional Housing Legal Services celebrated the ribbon cutting of Bigham Leatherberry Wise Place, an eleven unit housing facility created by the People’s Emergency Center (PEC). The buildings are located at 4226 Powelton Avenue and and 4231 Filbert Street in Philadelphia.
With six two-bedroom units and five three-bedroom units, Bigham Leatherberry Wise Place will primarily house homeless families with disabilities and/or special needs, as well as families with low and moderate incomes. In addition to housing, PEC will provide supportive services including case management, children’s programs, affordable childcare, counseling and therapy, drug and alcohol outpatient treatment, and employment training programs.
The facility will additionally feature a courtyard with a rain garden and large rear yard providing space for resident children to run and play.
