RHLS Welcomes Kerry Robinson.

RHLS is thrilled to be hosting a legal fellow through for the next two years. Kerry Robinson, a recent graduate from Rutgers Law School, has joined the RHLS staff and will focus his Fellowship on the Mayor’s inaugural H.O.M.E. program and access to resources for clients serving low- income Philadelphians.  

Established in 1996, the Phyllis W. Beck Public Interest Law Fellowship (previously the Independence Foundation Fellowship) funds new lawyers sponsored by legal services organizations to represent disadvantaged clients. Kerry is a recent graduate of Rutgers Law School at Camden. 

Prior to Law School, Kerry worked at the Chester Housing Authority as a case manager and later Admissions Coordinator, managing waiting lists and assisting families in the Housing Choice Voucher Program. During his time here, Kerry developed a passion for work that serves the community. After nearly seven years, Kerry became interested in doing more to ensure affordable housing for all and began law school.

During law school, Kerry went for every housing-related opportunity he could find, interning at the Fair Share Housing Center as a New Jersey Summer Housing Justice Fellow and Community Legal Services as a Senator Roxanne Jones Fellow. His work ranged from ensuring municipalities built affordable housing to representing tenant clients facing eviction. Kerry also enrolled in the Housing Clinic and later the Advanced Housing Clinic at Rutgers, where he represented tenants facing eviction and unfair rental practices. After years of work assisting tenants, he decided to work on the housing development side to gain a fuller understanding of why there is an affordable housing shortage and what can be done to address this issue.
